| The Sixkiller Legacy | |
 I've received many a puzzled look
when I mention the name of my business, Sixkiller
Software. To many, it conjures up all sorts of violent
images.
In fact, "Sixkiller" is a Cherokee name and the maiden name of my Grandmother. In some parts of the country, it is a fairly common name (as are "Tenkiller", "Fivekiller", etc). For example, in Oklahoma you can camp at Tenkiller Lake or eat lunch at Sixkiller BBQ.
Below, I've traced my ancestry back to Redbird Sixkiller, who came to Oklahoma from North Carolina in 1838 on the infamous "Trail of Tears".
